I spent some time today praying and thinking about this Bible verse...

Isa33:14 'Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?'

In several places throughout the Bible, God is referred to as a 'Consuming Fire', so suddenly this passage takes on a whole new meaning. Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire of God? Who can dwell with the everlasting burning of His love and His presence? Who of us is able to live in the furnace of who He is, and of what He is doing? Everything else is consumed by Him. Everything else appears to be weak, pale and pathetic in comparison to this raging fire that is our amazing God!

As I have spent time with this verse, it occurs to me that this is not simply a question... it is an invitation! God Himself invites us to position ourselves before Him. So day by day we take our cold hard hearts and place them before the inferno of His presence, and ask Him to set us on fire. As we do this, we begin to encounter Him and know Him like never before. We begin to experience His passion and determination to reach people with the immeasurably good news of the Gospel. We begin to be changed, and conformed into His likeness... and from there, nothing is impossible.

'Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire?'... if this is indeed an invitation, then I accept.
